(Photo by Mike McGinnis/Getty Images)Thursday, Jeff Snook, a writer who’s written numerous books on Ohio State, released a report on Facebook that suggested that both the mother of Zach Smith and the mother of Courtney Smith claim that Courtney Smith vowed for years to eventually “take down” her husband and Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer. The quotes themselves reportedly came from Lynn Bruce, Zach Smith’s mother and Earle Bruce’s daughter. But Snook says that when he reached out to Tina Carano, Courtney’s mother, she “backed” what Bruce was saying. It’s a lot to take in, and surely, if it’s true, it might explain why Ohio State is taking its time as it attempts to uncover the truth.Friday morning, Snook went on 97.1 The Fan and told Bishop & Laurinaitis that he actually has more info from Carano that he hasn’t released yet. He’s gathered it since his initial report came out.Keep in mind that Courtney Smith and her mother are reportedly estranged.“Well just consider, and her mother was very concerned about this, she’s got two grandchildren through Courtney that she wants to see as she grows older. So when they say she’s got an axe to grind, I don’t know possibility what it would be. I tried to convince her to do the right thing and the right thing to me is telling the truth. So she saw all this happening and her daughter basically initiating much of this through these interviews instead of keeping it private and going through the court system. And she knew it was wrong because she knew it wasn’t being portrayed as the way it actually happened. And she hates to see people lose their jobs who don’t deserve to. You’ve got to give her credit for that. She’s told me a lot more in that last 20 – 16 hours since the story appeared that I’ve not put out anywhere. It’s all corroboration. It’s even more. But again, she wants to see her granddaughters. Someday, she wants to reconcile with her daughter and you’ve got to balance that.”You can listen to Snook’s entire interview below:It’s unclear when Ohio State plans on making a decision, but August 19 was the original deadline. We’ll keep you updated.last_img
