Shreyas Iyer breaks Rishabh Pant’s record in T20s with 55-ball 147

first_imgShreyas Iyer broke Rishabh Pant’s record for the highest T20 score by an Indian. On Thursday, Iyer scored a 55-ball 147 for Mumbai against Sikkim in their Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Indore.Mumbai piled up 258 for 4 off their 20 overs – 5 runs short of the all-time highest score in T20s jointly held by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Australia.Incidentally, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant play for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Pant had made the record his own in 2018 when he scored an unbeaten 128 in the IPL. Before Pant, the record was held for 8 years by Murali Vijay, who had made a swashbuckling 127 for Chennai Super Kings in 2010.Suresh Raina is next in the list with 126 not out for Uttar Pradesh (2018) followed by Unmukt Chand who had made 125 for Delhi in 2013.Shreyas Iyer has played 6 ODIs and 6 T20Is for India so far. Having made his debut for India in a T20 against New Zealand in November 2017, Iyer was expected to fill in the void in the middle-order.But Shreyas has not played for India since the Centurion ODI against South Africa in February 2018.
