North Peace Savings and Credit Union contributes $5,000 to the Fort St. John Public Library’s Summer Reading Program
Paul McAfee, NPSCU Vice President of Services says, “Increasing literacy rates among children leads to a better, more prosperous future for our entire community. North Peace Savings and Credit Union is proud to invest in our children today so that their options are open for the future.”Around 450 children took part in last year’s program, which is open to those ages 2-14. Children taking part record their reading hours and report them to the library to receive prizes and recognition. The donation is welcome one, and as Kerry France of the Fort St. John Public Library says, a bit of a relief.- Advertisement -“The donation came at a financial crunch for the library. Without the donation from North Peace Savings, we’d have to cut other programs, so this donation helps both this program and the quality of our programs as well.” This year, children taking part will be able to enter a draw for a helicopter ride from Bailey Helicopters.
