Bears and Bearkats Set to Face Off in Championship Match

After Lusine Chobanyan and ACU’s Jordan Henry exchanged 6-2 scores in the first two frames, Chobanyan turned the tables back with another 6-2 set win to clinch the match. SHSU won three-consecutive straight-set singles matches after dropping the doubles point to go ahead 3-1 before the Wildcats’ Sarah Adams and Autumn Bellow forced the decisive point at No. 4. No. 3 Central Arkansas 4, No. 2 Northwestern State 0 (Box Score)The Bears earned the doubles point after coming out on top at No. 1 and No. 3 singles behind dominant performances by top-line partners Chunxi Xin and Marlin Van Heerden, as well as Fuka Nonoyama and Yada Vasupongchai at the third line. Xin and Nonoyama took that momentum into their singles contests, giving UCA a 3-0 advantage with straight-set wins at the top two lines. Vasupongchai clinched the match-winning point as she downed NSU’s Patrycja Polanska 6-4, 6-2.
