New Dashboard Provides Android Developers with Better Stats

first_imgRole of Mobile App Analytics In-App Engagement What it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … The Rise and Rise of Mobile Payment Technology Related Posts Tags:#mobile center_img sarah perez Why IoT Apps are Eating Device Interfaces Google recently released an update to the Android Market which introduces a new feature for mobile developers: the Application Statistics dashboard. This tool lets developers better see details regarding their application’s performance, status and trends, using charts, tables and other data. The information can be used to compare an app’s trends with those found in the rest of the Android Market. It can also serve as a resource in determining what to develop next, says Google. The new dashboard provides a summary of each of a developer’s apps over time, plus its distribution across Android platform versions, devices, user countries, and user languages. According to a post on the official Android Developers blog, the dashboard also provides the comparable aggregate distribution for all app installs from Android Market. What that means is that developers can see how many people using the latest version of the Android OS are using their app, for example, and then can compare that number to overall Market trends related to the upgrade cycle. The charts have been initially seeded with data going back to December 22nd, 2010, Google notes, and will be updated daily going forward.Developers can access the dashboard by logging into the Market Developer Console. The resource is located on the main Listings page.last_img read more

Moto G7, G7 Power could launch in India soon: Should you wait for them?

first_imgThe Moto G7 series went official on Thursday, and sure enough there are four models in the new lineup. The Moto G7, G7 Plus, G7 Power and G7 Play have been announced bringing a new design language that is mostly about shedding bezels to make the phones look like they belong in 2019. Each of the new Moto phone has something unique to offer, whether it is a waterdrop display or a massive battery life. And like past Moto G phones, the Moto G7 series can be expected to launch in India soon enough. While Motorola has not officially confirmed the India launch of the Moto G7 lineup, a report from a few days ago claimed that the company will first bring the G7 and G7 Power to India, and the duo could come to the country by March-end. It is possible that the company will be keeping the G7 Plus and G7 Play for the second half of 2019. It’s a similar strategy the company took for the Moto G6 series last year, launching the G6 Plus in India a few months after the regular model. The Moto G7 and G7 Power will have a tough fight ahead of them when they launch in India. The mid-range segment has become increasingly competitive in the country thanks to players like Xiaomi, Realme, Honor, and Nokia. These companies have brought premium-looking, power-packed devices at really competitive prices. Motorola has not been able to compete on a same level, losing market share to Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo and Oppo, among others. Last year, the company announced the Snapdragon 450-powered Moto G6 at around Rs 16,000, and the Moto G6 Plus at around Rs 23,000.advertisementMoto G7 and G7 Power expected India priceConsidering the specs on offer, the Moto G7 series has been launched at a pretty high price in Brazil. The cheapest model, the G7 Play, starts at R$ 999 (approx Rs 19,208) while the G7 Power starts at R$ 1399 (approx Rs 26,899). The standard G7 costs R$1599 (approx Rs 30,745) while the G7 Plus will be selling for R$ 1899 (approx Rs 36,513).If the Moto G7 and G7 Power launch in India at these similar conversion rates, it could be a difficult sell. It seems likely that the company will launch the Moto G7 and G7 Power at prices closer to the US pricing. The G7 costs $299 (approx 21,000) in the US, while the G7 Power has a price of $249 (approx Rs 17,700).Even a direct translation of the US prices puts the Moto G7 and G7 Power at a difficult position in India. Motorola will have to aggressively price its devices here if it wants to take on the competition. But considering how the Moto G6 series launched in India last year, I wouldn’t hold my breath to see something dramatically different from the Moto G7.Moto G7 and G7 Power key featuresThe Moto G7 and G7 Power offer some compelling new features for the Moto G lineup. The Moto G7 comes with a taller display compared to its predecessor thanks to thinner bezels all around and a waterdrop notch. It sports a 6.2-inch FHD+ (2270×1080) display and is backed by dual cameras on the back with a 12MP + 5MP configuration. It also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and yes, a 3.5mm headphone jack. The G7 Power, on the other hand, highlights a massive 5,000mAh battery, which Motorola claims will deliver up to 3 days of battery life. It also gets a similar 6.2-inch screen as the Moto G7, but with an HD+ (1520×720) resolution instead. It sports a 12MP sensor on the back and an 8MP front-facing camera. Like the G7, the G7 Power also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack. Both the phones also support 15W TurboPower fast charging, which will come in handy especially for the G7 Power.Should you wait for the Moto G7 and G7 Power? Some of these features do look exciting and are worth waiting for if you are a fan of the brand. But these aren’t new features in the larger scheme of things. Waterdrop displays and beefy batteries have been introduced in the affordable segment for many months now. Phones like the Realme 2 Pro (Review) and Samsung Galaxy M20 (Review) offer these features at really affordable prices. At the end of the day, we are also looking at two Motorola phones that feature a Snapdragon 632 chipset and could come with a price tag over Rs 15,000.Motorola will need to get the pricing right if it wants the Moto G7 and G7 Power to work in India. We have an exhaustive list of phones like the Nokia 7.1, Poco F1, Realme 2 Pro, Oppo K1, Honor 8X and so on that offer great hardware along with quality design. Motorola has its work cut out for it, but it is worth waiting to see the company’s strategy for India this year.advertisementALSO READ | Moto G7 vs Nokia 6.1 Plus: Stock Android, premium build but which one looks betterALSO READ | Moto G7 or Redmi Note 7: Latest Moto may launch in India soon, here is how it compares with upcoming Xiaomilast_img read more

Your cell phone may be used against you in a court of

center_img Those are the allegations made by the American Civil Liberties Union against the Michigan State Police. They claim that they have been using technology to clone your cell phone data and use it against drivers for issues as trivial as a traffic stop. That data could include your photos, videos, e-mails, and GPS locations. The Michigan State Police have been accused of taking cell phones from people at traffic stops and cloning those phones. The devices used, called the CelleBrite UFED, were initially designed for forensic use, and now they may be being used in the field by patrol officers. These devices are capable of cloning the data that is stored on more than 3000 different models of cell phones. Security protections, including pins are not stopped by this device. It is even capable of accessing data that have been deleted on the phone, data that is no longer available to the phones owner.Requests by the ACLU to see log data from the Michigan State Police was met for a demand for half a million dollars to pay for the costs of retrieving the information. The ACLU replied to that request with a public letter that made reference to the constitutional rights of citizens and the possibility of litigation Currently, no other steps have been taken. Swinging to Sufism

Remember the song Khwaja Mere Khwaja from the film Jodha Akbar? More than the lyrics what realy appealed was the choreography used in it. Grabbing eyeballs instantly, the dance reflected divine vibes.Popularly known as Whirling Dervishes, the dance was founded in year 1273 by Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, known as the founder of Sufism. Since then, this Turkish dance form has created waves across the world for its spiritual significance and unique features. Also Read – ‘Playing Jojo was emotionally exhausting’‘Whirling Dervishes is a well-known form of Sufi dance that was established by Hüsamettin Çelebi, a follower of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi in 1273 in Konya. Dervish means initiation of the journey on the path of Sufism and Whirling denotes a part of a formal Sama ceremony [Sama is an Arabic word which means ‘listening’ in English]. The performers of Whirling Dervishes are called Semazens,’ explained Ozgur Ayturk, Counselor, Turkish Culture and Tourism. Also Read – Leslie doing new comedy special with Netflix‘The origin of this form of song and dance dates back when Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi was walking through the marketplace one day and heard the rhythmic hammering of the goldbeaters. It is believed that Rumi heard the dhikr, ‘la elaha ella’llah’ — which in English means ‘There is none worthy of worship but Allah’ — spoken by the apprentices. The rhythm sent him into trance and he started swirling with his arms stretched— sowing the seeds of a unique dance form called Whirling Dervishes,’ he added. While performing the dance the dervishes wear a white gown [symbolic of death], a wide black cloak [hirka] that is symbolic of the grave and a tall brown hat [kûlah or sikke] that is symbolic of the tombstone. The dervishes practice multiple rituals, primary among them is the ‘Dhikr’. It involves recitation of devotional Islamic prayer coupled with physical exertions of movement to reach a perfect state where one is on the same level as God.The second important ritual is the ‘Sama’ which is performed by spinning on the right foot, and represents the journey of a man whose soul gets connected with the almighty in pursuit of attaining the truth and being perfect. In this he follows the truth by sharing love and foregoing his ego to be ‘Perfect’. He then returns as a man who has reached maturity and greater perfection, able to love and to be of service to the whole of creation. Some of the ceremonies celebrated during Sama are Naat and Taksim, Devr-i Veled, The Four Salams and Concluding Prayer.Practising Whirling Dervishes since 1990, the Turkish dance troupe called The Konya Turkish Tasawwuf Music Ensemble will be performing in the Capital, centered around the theme Sema with Sufi music. Sema came out of the inspiration on the 13th century Muslim scholar, poet and mystic, Mevlanna Celaleddin Rumi. Sema represents the true spiritual journey to maturity. It is like an ascent to heaven and return to earth. Over the centuries, Sema has become a part of Turkish beliefs, traditions and history. Sema is made up of seven sections, each section having a distinct meaning.‘We know that both India and Turkey have been influenced by Sufism deeply and a strong tradition coming through centuries is still active in both the countries. Therefore we believe organising this kind of events will help both the nations understand the rich heritage of each other on sufism and make the peoples of two countries come closer,’ concluded Ayturk.DETAILWhen: 27 OctoberAt: Delhi International Art Festival,  Purana Qila When: 28 OctoberAt: Rashtrapati Bhavan read more
